O'Fallon residents have a limited window to ensure their holiday trees find new life through recycling. The City of O'Fallon - Government took to social media to remind the community that there are only a few days left to drop off live evergreen trees for recycling. These trees, stripped of their festive decor, can be left at designated sites within Westhoff Park and Sports Park.
According to the City of O'Fallon's Facebook post, residents can bring their trees from dawn until dusk, but there are some restrictions. Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, and any other decorations that might have adorned them during the celebrations. Furthermore, no artificial trees wreaths, shrubs, plastic bags, or yard waste will be accepted, maintaining the focus on recycling natural trees only.
The two parks serving as drop-off points are easily accessible. Westhoff Park, located at 810 Sheppard Dr., and Sports Park, at 3589 Highway K, offer residents convenient locations to say farewell to their trees. The initiative is part of the city's green efforts to repurpose natural holiday symbols into mulch or other beneficial materials, which can be a responsible alternative to tossing them out with the regular trash.
