The Oakland Police Department apprehended a person allegedly carrying a loaded firearm in public, following a response to the 2700 block of Fruitvale Avenue yesterday. According to the official social media post from the Oakland Police Department, officers were dispatched to investigate reports of an armed individual asleep inside a vehicle.
Upon police arrival, the individual attempted to leave the area and ultimately surrendered without incident. The officers found and secured a loaded firearm from the place of rest, the vehicle. The OPD took the individual into custody.
