As the new year takes hold, the City of Orem Government is reminding residents that with the dawn of 2026 comes a new recycling calendar to ease the process of waste management. According to the City of Orem on its social media page, the updated calendar is now accessible, aiming to streamline the weekly sorting conundrum of trash versus recyclables. Embracing technology for environmental good, the city is also championing the use of the Recycle Coach app, a companion in the quest to remember bin days without the fuss.
In an era where smartphones act as lifelines to the ebb and flow of daily living, the Recycle Coach app emerges not only as a tool of convenience but also as an emblem of environmental commitment; it is free to download and designed to provide personalized alerts, based on one's address each week details about which bins Orem residents should take out, "just type in your address and it will alert you each week about which bins to take out," states the City of Orem on a Facebook post.
The implementation of such digital aids reflects a broader effort to integrate technology with sustainability, encouraging citizens to play an active part in conservation while simplifying participation. This initiative evidences Orem's commitment to the three R's of waste hierarchy, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, and their strategies to involve the community in these goals. By doing so, the city not only acknowledges the importance of practical environmental action but also advances civic responsibility in preservation and resource management.
