Yesterday, the Fremont Police Department reported a severe collision at the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and Cushing Parkway involving a BMW M4 coupe and a semi-truck, drawing immediate emergency response from officers, firefighters, and paramedics. While the driver of the BMW was treated and released, a passenger remains hospitalized with life-threatening conditions; the truck driver was unscathed, staying on scene to cooperate with investigators. The Fremont Police Department's social media post details the early stages of the ongoing investigation.
According to the preliminary findings, and despite functioning traffic signals, authorities believe that one of the vehicles entered the intersection against a red light, leading to the BMW striking the middle of the semi-truck's trailer being subsequently pulled underneath it, though investigation into the exact cause is still underway and hence far there's no suspicion that drug or alcohol impairment played a role as per the details shared by authorities. Witnesses or those with information are encouraged to contact the Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit.
