
West Phoenix community members are grappling with the reality of increased gun violence after a fatal shooting occurred last Friday night. As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident took place around 11 p.m. near 25th Avenue and Hazelwood Street. Phoenix Police responded to a shots-fired call, and upon arrival, found 44-year-old Steven Stone Jr. with at least one gunshot wound.
Law enforcement quickly rushed Stone to a hospital, battling for life, but he later succumbed to his injuries. As of now, Phoenix Police have not revealed any details regarding a suspect or what might have precipitated this violent act. According to a FOX 10 Phoenix report, Sgt. Rob Scherer with Phoenix PD emphasized, "Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case."
In conjunction with the ongoing investigation, the nearby roads were closed for several hours, reopening early Saturday morning. This disruption, a somber testament to the night's tragic events, was noted by AZ Family.
