The quiet streets of Piedmont were disrupted by an audacious tool theft that escalated into a truck crash on Wednesday. According to the Piedmont Police Department's social media post, the incident occurred around 4:45 PM near Blair Ave. and Hillside Ave., where a 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 was reported stolen along with its trailer loaded with dirt and concrete.
The Police Department detailed that after stealing the vehicle, the unidentified suspect(s), last seen donning ski masks, lost control and rammed into a home at the intersection of Ricardo Ave. Fortunately, the collision resulted in no bodily harm to the residents or bystanders. In a quick pivot, the culprits left the scene in a dark gray Honda, continuing their flight toward Grand Ave.
In the wake of the chaos, the police are now seeking help from the community. They are calling for anyone who might have information or video footage of the area during the time of the robbery and crash to come forward. The investigation remains active, and tips can be directed to the Piedmont Police Department at (510) 420-3000.
