Residents of Placer County are invited to a town hall on January 20 to discuss the potential placement of Sexually Violent Predator William Stephenson in the Alta and Dutch Flat area. The meeting will allow locals to "receive information directly from County officials" about the proposed placement and related procedures, as reported by the Placer County District Attorney's Office.
The session, led by District Attorney Morgan Gire, Placer County Sheriff’s Office representatives, and District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson, emphasizes community involvement. The district attorney’s office said that public input is "a very important part of the Court’s review process," as stated by the Placer County District Attorney's Office.
According to the Placer County District Attorney's Office on their Facebook page, the Alta Community Center will hold a town hall on January 20 at 5:30 p.m. to explain the state SVP placement process and upcoming court hearing steps. Officials will discuss what information the Court needs, the County’s public safety plans, and allow residents to give feedback, ask questions, and share concerns for the court packet due January 28. People who cannot attend can submit comments online through the District Attorney’s SVP portal. All feedback will be considered at the next hearing on February 13.
