The Plymouth Police Department took to social media this week to provide a glance into their workload from January 4 through January 10, offering a numerical breakdown that gives us insight into the rhythm of everyday law enforcement in the community. The department's post detailed a total of 898 incidents, including an array of events from general disturbances to vehicular accidents.
Among the figures released were the 12 arrests made during the week. A slightly higher statistic was the documentation of 15 criminal complaints. Traffic enforcement appeared actively vigilant, with 196 traffic stops recorded, complementing the 24 motor vehicle accidents that the department also responded to.
Adding to the calls that police officers navigate daily, there were 32 house and building alarms and 13 disturbances, situations that can vary widely in urgency and risk. The police report also noted 25 instances of suspicious activity, painting a picture of the vigilance required in law enforcement.
Aside from law and order, the officers attended to 57 medical, mental, and wellbeing checks — a testament to their role in addressing the concerns that straddle public health and safety. Of peculiar interest might be the 31 accidental 911 calls, a reflection of the sometimes blurred line between intent and accident that emergency responders must discern. The weekly update ended with a message of thanks, as the Plymouth Police Department expressed appreciation for its officers’ dedication and the community’s continued support.
