The City of Portland is seeking ideas for managing its city-owned performing arts venues, specifically the Portland’5 Centers for the Arts. A request for information opened on Monday to gather insights on potential operating models for these spaces, according to the City of Portland.
This effort is part of the 'Future of Portland’5' initiative, exploring strategies to run one, some, or all of the venues. Venue operators, nonprofits, performing arts groups, and other interested parties are invited to submit proposals on how the venues could be managed, as reported by the City of Portland.
Metro, which currently manages Portland’5, will step away, and management will return to the city on July 1, 2027, following an 18-month transition. The city has issued a request for information to identify available resources and potential partners to operate the venues. As stated on the City of Portland’s website, "This request for information is an opportunity to gather interest and ideas to assist the City in understanding the availability of operators in the marketplace, as well as approaches and solutions to a new operating model for Portland'5 Centers for the Arts venues."
