Residents of the 2300 block of Dawn's Pass in West Knox County faced a tense evening when a house fire broke out, with flames coming from the chimney. Rural Metro Fire quickly responded and used dry chemical extinguishers to "minimize damage," ensuring all occupants were safe, as reported by the Rural Metro Fire Department.
The firefighters also cleared the smoke from the building, preventing further hazards. They reminded the public, "Always a reminder that if you plan on burning wood in your fire place or wood stove, you should have it professionally cleaned once a year," as stated by the Rural Metro Fire Department.
According to the Rural Metro Fire Department on their Facebook page, they warned about the dangers of alternative heating sources during cold weather. They said a recent fireplace fire was quickly controlled, preventing a more serious incident.
