The City of Raleigh is accepting applications for the Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program (RSYEP). The program provides an eight-week paid internship for teens to gain work experience and develop professional skills. According to the official announcement, applicants aged 15 to 18 have until March 18 to apply for the program. Eligible participants must live within Raleigh city limits and not be enrolled in summer school or activities that conflict with the program’s schedule.
Participants are required to complete certain steps to confirm their placement, including attending a mandatory orientation with a parent or guardian on May 16. They must also complete a criminal record check, controlled substance testing (CST), and fingerprinting as part of the background check process required by North Carolina General Statute G.S. 160A-164.2(b) for positions working with minors.
To apply, participants must provide proof of Raleigh residency and have a government-issued ID when receiving a conditional offer. According to the application guidelines, school IDs without an address are not acceptable, though official school transcripts can be used as proof of residency. Additionally, missing more than five days of the program may lead to disqualification.
