Montz locals will need to adjust their routes starting next week as significant road closures are set to begin. The St. Charles Parish administration has announced that Hwy 628 (CC Road) will be fully closed from Hwy 61 to the KCS railroad, starting Monday, January 26, until Friday, March 13. Officials have determined the closure necessary to conduct construction that includes driving sheet piling along the edge of the road and driving batter piles.
According to the notice by the Parish government, the road will be inaccessible to northbound and southbound traffic. While emergency vehicles will be provided with a single open lane at the Pump Station No. 2 construction site, residents and other local traffic will need to reroute. The detours proposed include using Hwy 628 to access the spillway road and River Road. Haul trucks, as well as residents coming from Cembell Industries and Vickers Lane, have been advised to make way using the Spillway Road or River Road during the construction period.
Local officials say the temporary closure is necessary to improve road safety and long-term maintenance. The construction project is designed to strengthen the roadway and reduce the need for emergency repairs caused by severe weather, which has increasingly affected the area. Residents are being asked to plan their commutes and stay updated on construction progress to avoid delays. St. Charles Parish officials say they will provide timely updates and are available to address any concerns during the work. Officials say the temporary inconvenience is expected to result in smoother and safer travel once work on Hwy 628 is completed, according to the St. Charles Parish.
