A section of River Road in Garyville, between Louisiana 54 and Daffodil Street, remains closed at both ends following a vehicle crash last Friday that struck a support beam on an overhead walkway near NALCO. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on a social media post that the one-vehicle accident, which caused injuries, was reported at around 5:39 p.m.
Officials are inspecting the damaged support beam to ensure public safety before reopening the road. Residents near Daffodil Street are advised to use a detour via River Road (Louisiana 44) to Louisiana 3213 while the inspection and repair work continue.
The closure has affected residents and commuters in the Garyville area. Inspections and repairs are being carried out to ensure the overhead crosswalk is safe. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has stated that updates will be provided as information becomes available.
Meanwhile, Garyville residents and visitors are advised to plan alternate routes while safety inspections are conducted. Authorities have not yet released information on the nature of the injuries or the circumstances of the crash. Normal traffic is expected to resume once the inspections and repairs are completed.
