A Roxbury man found himself in handcuffs following a police response to a Central Square business in Cambridge. The Cambridge Police Department reported that at around 9:30 am yesterday, officers arrived at the location after being informed of individuals smoking marijuana and refusing to vacate the premises. In the basement, they found two people, one of whom was Brandon Gregory, 40, who is now facing gun and drug charges.

According to the Cambridge Police Department's press release, Gregory provided multiple false names and couldn't justify his reason for being there. His dubious conduct prompted the officers to detain him, setting off a struggle where he attempted to flee and pulled out a firearm with an extended magazine, which was momentarily aimed at one of the officers.

Miriam Piquant, 34, of Mattapan, was the second individual discovered in the basement. She was peacefully arrested after it became apparent she had an outstanding warrant in Boston. Meanwhile, the police's control over Gregory revealed his possession of a bag containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine, adding to his legal woes. Gregory does not hold the necessary permits for firearm possession, compounding the charges against him.

The press release also revealed that Gregory had multiple active warrants for his arrest from several jurisdictions, including Boston, Cambridge, Dedham, and Ontario County, NY. His illegal possession of a firearms and the crack cocaine has brought not only local but potentially interstate legal repercussions. The charge of unlawful possession of a firearm is serious, given that Gregory does not possess a License to Carry (LTC) or Firearms Identification Card (FID).
