Two Falafel Corner restaurants in Sacramento were hit in back-to-back overnight break-ins, owners said, leaving one shop with a shattered storefront and thousands of dollars in damage. The incidents happened within hours of each other, and the timing has business owners suspecting the same crew may have targeted both locations. Staff are now dealing with cleanup, repairs, security footage and a fast rethink of how they handle payments.
Surveillance video from the Bruceville Road location shows two people smashing the glass near the front entrance just after 4:30 a.m., then grabbing a cash register that owners say held nearly $2,000 before taking off and leaving a ruined register and broken window behind. Less than two hours earlier, the Bradshaw Road shop reported its own break-in, which managers say was the first time that location has been burglarized. Owners Respond And Go Cashless
“I was devastated,” Bruceville owner Touqeer Ahmed told the station, adding that walking into work and finding the store ransacked “is not a good feeling.” Bradshaw owner Ahmad Habib urged neighbors to back local shops that “have a hard time surviving” and confirmed the restaurants will stop accepting cash, switching to card and tap payments only to cut the chance of future losses. The owners told FOX40 they hope the move, along with added security, will be enough to scare off would-be thieves.
