The San Jose Police Department has made significant progress in the case of a series of armed robberies that have shaken the local community. On January 17, two suspects executed an armed robbery at a liquor store on McKee Road, where one brandished a knife and the other looted cash registers before making their escape. The very next day, the pair struck again at a convenience store on Coleman Avenue, menacing the clerk with a knife and threats of gunfire.

The break in the case came last Wednesday, when the suspects' red Corvette triggered an alert from the San José Police Department's Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. Although they initially eluded capture after a high-speed chase, the vehicle was eventually discovered abandoned.

Following this lead, detectives identified the primary suspect as Mohamed Husein, who, later that same day, continued his crime spree by committing an additional carjacking. This incident led to a high-stakes pursuit spanning multiple jurisdictions and several officer-involved shootings. Subsequently, Edward Macias was pinpointed as an accomplice involved in the prior robberies. A search warrant for his residence and an arrest warrant were promptly issued.

Last Thursday, diligent efforts by detectives and the Covert Response Unit (CRU) culminated in the capture of Suspect Macias in Los Banos. During the search of his home, police uncovered incriminating evidence directly linked to the robberies. He was then booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges relating to robbery and conspiracy. The swift apprehension of Macias demonstrates the department's unfaltering commitment to swiftly bring to justice those who choose to disrupt the peace of our neighborhoods.

The authorities are actively seeking additional information about these incidents and have reached out to the public for assistance. As outlined in an SJPD release, those with relevant information are encouraged to contact Detective Grodin or Detective Torres of the San José Police Department Robbery Unit. For those wishing to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted via the P3TIPS mobile app, the tip line, or through the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website, with the potential for a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest.
