Cool Weekend, Sharper Warmup Next Week
Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high near 77, while Sunday will reach about 75 after another round of early patchy fog. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-50s, making for comfortable evenings and distinctly un-summerlike mornings by South Bay standards.
Labor Day brings the warmup, with a sunny high near 82, followed by about 84 degrees Tuesday. The first meaningful rain chance in the forecast arrives Tuesday night and Wednesday, but it remains slight at roughly 20%, according to the National Weather Service.
Beach Hazards Make Coastal Trips Riskier
Anyone heading from San Jose to the Pacific Coast this weekend should take the beach warning seriously. A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through Monday evening, with strong rip currents, sneaker waves and breaking waves that could reach 10 feet in some locations.
The National Weather Service advises avoiding the water unless you are an experienced swimmer and never turning your back on the ocean. If a rip current catches you, swim parallel to shore until the pull eases, then make your way back toward the beach.
