San Jose residents may feel a bit safer on the trails following a recent police action near Coyote Creek Trail. During a patrol conducted by the San Jose Police Department's Neighborhood Quality of Life (NQL) team, two individuals were found trespassing in the creek area. According to the San Jose Police Department, when approached by officers, one individual opted to evade on a bicycle. This attempt, however, was short-lived as officers quickly apprehended him.
The pursuit ended with more than just a trespassing charge. A subsequent search of the suspect led to the discovery of a loaded, unserialized firearm and suspected narcotics. The suspect, who was not legally permitted to possess a weapon due to his status as a prohibited person, was found to have multiple outstanding warrants. "Once in custody, a pat-frisk revealed a loaded, unserialized firearm in the suspect’s jacket and suspected narcotics among his property," stated the San Jose Police Department in their online update. The individual was promptly booked into the Main Jail.
These types of patrols are not uncommon for the NQL team, which focuses on enhancing the quality of life by addressing issues that affect residents' daily experiences. Their efforts seem to be a constant presence on the trails and in the neighborhoods, demonstrating a proactive stance on local safety.
