A Savannah man has found himself on the wrong side of the law, following allegations of elder exploitation in Evans County, Georgia. Duane Ellington Nunnally, 51, has been arrested and faces a slew of charges, including exploitation of an elderly person, filing false documents, and theft by taking, according to an announcement by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The case unfurled when Evans County Probate Judge Darin McCoy spotted potential signs of abuse and filed a report on August 27, 2025. The GBI states that they stepped in at the behest of the Evans County Sheriff’s Office to shoulder the weight of the investigation, leading to Nunnally’s arrest on Monday. The accused is currently housed in the Tattnall County Jail. The full spectrum of Nunnally’s alleged misdeeds will become clearer once the investigation fully wraps up.
The prosecution will take over once the GBI finishes its investigation, at which point the case will be formally transferred to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges. From there, prosecutors will determine the next legal steps based on the findings of the investigation.
