The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reported a bizarre theft in Covington involving mannequin hands. According to a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook post, a suspect entered a retail store, removed a pair of mannequin hands, and concealed them in his pants. The damage to the mannequin was valued at $120.
The Sheriff's Office posted about the incident on Facebook, using hashtags like #HandsDownWeird, and invited anyone with information to come forward. Video footage from the store was unclear, prompting deputies to ask for community assistance. Residents are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Detective John Griggs with tips.
The department’s humorous approach has drawn attention, mixing wit with public safety. “We know the footage isn’t the greatest… our goal is simply to figure out who this guy is,” the Sheriff’s Office said. They also encouraged tips via social media or phone, blending levity with their investigation.
