
The search for a missing swimmer off Kahili Beach in Kīlauea is still underway. According to reports, emergency services were alerted to a pair of distressed swimmers after 12:15 p.m. Teams from multiple agencies have responded to the call, including the Hanalei Fire Station, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, Kaua‘i Police Department, American Medical Response, U.S. Coast Guard, and State officials.
One swimmer was swiftly brought to safety by first responders, who managed to quickly locate and retrieve the individual. As per a county press release, the rescued swimmer sustained a leg laceration and was provided medical care by American Medical Response. Efforts to thoroughly search the area for the second swimmer have not ceased since the incident was first reported.
The missing individual’s identity has not yet been released, and the circumstances of their disappearance remain under investigation. Rescue operations have been extensive, with aerial, maritime, and shoreline searches conducted in hopes of locating the missing swimmer.
