A man was arrested on New Year's Day in connection with a violent incident at the San Carlos Caltrain Station, where a good Samaritan was brutally assaulted after intervening in a harassment situation last Tuesday.
San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies identified and subsequently arrested 33-year-old Brian C. Weisl of South San Francisco. The victim of the assault sustained significant facial injuries after attempting to aid a woman being harassed, which led to Weisl attacking the good Samaritan before fleeing the scene.
The week-long investigation conducted by law enforcement officials brought them to Weisl, who was found and peacefully taken into custody. The announcement on Facebook by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office detailed that Weisl was booked on charges of felony battery with serious bodily injury and assault.
