The Southbridge Police Department has taken significant measures to address gun violence in the community, as evident in an ongoing investigation involving illegal firearm possession and reported threats. Yesterday, the department updated the public via social media, confirming the arrest of a 22-year-old man in connection with these events. The suspect, identified as Cassius CLAY of Northborough, MA, is facing several serious charges stemming from a reported threat to a neighborhood resident and a related armed robbery.
In their Facebook post, the Southbridge Police provide details about the initial incident which occurred on November 6, 2025. Officers responded to a resident's report of credible threats that their home would be targeted in a shooting. During increased patrols, a juvenile attempted to flee when approached by officers but was quickly apprehended. A firearm with a defaced serial number was discovered, leading to the arrest of the 14-year-old juvenile on multiple firearms charges.
The investigation led to a search of the juvenile's residence, where additional illegal firearms, ammunition, and evidence were located. Another 14-year-old juvenile is expected to be charged, and Cassius CLAY has been implicated as well, his charges now include armed robbery and multiple firearms-related offenses. CLAY's rap sheet now reflects the gravity of his alleged actions – "with being in possession of a firearm without a license to carry (2nd offense), with being in possession of a firearm with a prior violent/drug crime conviction and with being in possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony," as reported by the Southbridge Police.
