Homeownership may feel out of reach for many first-time buyers, but the St. Bernard Home Mortgage Authority is providing hope – and potentially some much-needed financial assistance. Announced by the St. Bernard Parish Government's Facebook post, the authority has slated a seminar that will break down how the CAFA Down Payment Assistance Program can support new purchasers.
Particularly beneficial is that the program offers 5% of the loan amount to go towards down payment and/or closing costs. According to the post from the St. Bernard Parish Government, "In some cases, buyers may be able to close with little to no money out of pocket." The initiative is also available for a variety of loan types – conventional, FHA, or RD – and applies to multi-family properties with up to four units.
The details of this opportunity will be laid out in the council chambers of the St. Bernard Parish Government Complex on January 21 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
