St. Charles Parish officials have announced a series of road closures and lane restrictions expected to impact traffic flow in the coming weeks. According to St. Charles Parish, Hwy 628 (CC Road) will be closed from January 26 through March 13 to allow for the installation of sheet pile along the roadside. Traffic will be accessible from the KCS railroad to the spillway road and River Road, though specific routes such as Spillway Road or River Road will need to be used by haul trucks, Cembell Industries, and Vickers Lane residents.
Emergency access will be maintained at the PS #2 construction site, with a single lane kept open for emergency vehicles amidst the ongoing road removal for sheet pile installation. On a separate note, Jonathan Street in Destrehan remains closed indefinitely, with emergency vehicles directed to use Bunge's heavy haul road for alternative access. Meanwhile, Ormond Center Court in Destrehan faces obstruction from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Blvd, due to road construction. A detour is in place allowing vehicle traffic to navigate through the affected area.
In a matter of wider impact, LA 3127 will see intermittent, alternating lane closures from the St. James Parish Line to the St. Charles Parish Line until October 30, accommodating drainage structures and asphalt milling. Detour routes for LA 3127 have been suggested to aid motorists bypassing the construction zone. Motorists traveling east on LA 3127 have the option to take LA 3213 north to I-10, among other routes, while westbound motorists could opt for I-310 north to I-10, then to LA 641 south, according to St. Charles Parish.
Further affecting the parish's road network, upcoming permit-related work will bring about intermittent lane and shoulder closures on LA 3127 and LA 3160. These closures are planned to occur on various dates through late February 2026. Finally, recent roadwork on LA 3127 near I-310 and on US 61 (Airline Dr) from Almedia Rd to Ormond Blvd has necessitated partial closures affecting both day and night traffic.
