The St. Louis County Police Department is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting at a Walgreens in Maryland Heights, Missouri, which resulted in the death of an adult male, according to a department statement.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when Maryland Heights officers responded to a call at the Walgreens on the 12500 block of Dorsett Road. According to the St. Louis County Police Department, they encountered an armed male who fired at them. During the exchange of gunfire, an officer shot the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
The officer involved in the shooting is 30 years old and has two and a half years of service with the Maryland Heights Police Department, in addition to previous law enforcement experience. The St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the investigation.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that initial details may change as more information becomes available.
