The Saint Louis County Planning Department just got a major tip of the cap for its visionary work on the STLCO 2050: An Equitable and Sustainable Comprehensive Plan. The plan, which was adopted in September 2025, isn't just another document to gather dust on a shelf. It's a foresight-filled roadmap for building a community that’s both sustainable and equitable.
The accolades for the Planning Department are rolling in from afar. It snagged the Missouri Chapter Award for Outstanding Plan, along with the garland from the American Planning Association (APA) St. Louis Metro Section Award for Outstanding Plan Making. Not to stop there, the APA County Planning Division and National Association of County Planners’ Award of Merit for a Large Jurisdiction's Comprehensive Plan is now also sitting on their mantelpiece. These recognitions underscore, the department's drive to create a strong and inclusive future for every resident in the county.
