St. Louis Park High School is stepping into the forefront of racial discourse as its SOAR student group gears up to lead a session dedicated to racial healing on January 19. The workshop, organized by Students Organized for Anti-Racism (SOAR), aims to spark a candid dialogue on race and its profound impact on the fabric of the community. Announced by the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota's social media channels, the gathering is set to align with the school district's mission and core values, emphasizing the necessity of such discussions in our educational institutions.
In preparation for these discussions, student facilitators completed training with the St. Louis Park Racial Equity & Inclusion (REI) Division. The program equips young leaders with the skills needed to guide conversations that can be complex and emotionally charged, strengthening their ability to engage peers and community members in meaningful dialogue. The City of St. Louis Park noted, "Students have been taking part in a facilitator training led by the St. Louis Park Racial Equity & Inclusion (REI) Division, building skills to lead these meaningful and impactful community conversations."
