
St. Louis police initiated a homicide investigation following the discovery of a deceased woman on Cook Avenue earlier this week. Officers responded to a report of a person down at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday and found an unresponsive 40-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The area was secured while detectives conducted their investigation.
The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Tuesday, and determined that the woman died from gunshot wounds. The death was ruled a homicide. The victim was later identified as Lindsey Smith of Richmond Heights, Missouri. Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Smith’s death remain limited. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is requesting assistance from the public and asks anyone with information to contact the Homicide Division at 314-444-5371.
