On Tuesday, a stolen vehicle led Piedmont police on a chase that crossed multiple cities before ending back in Piedmont, according to the department. Officers first spotted the vehicle using license plate reader cameras and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled in an effort to evade police.
Despite Stop Sticks disabling the vehicle, the suspect continued driving, causing damage along the way. Police ultimately contained the vehicle and brought the pursuit to a close in Piedmont.
The pursuit simply ended when the car, now crawling due to the disabled tire, was located in Berkeley and recovered, as reported by the Piedmont Police Department. Thankfully, this trail of evidence and action led to the return of the vehicle to its rightful owner, who had "suffered the loss" at the hands of what can only be described as a determined and reckless individual.
