Franklin, Ohio, police apprehended two suspects early Sunday following a high-speed chase on Interstate 75 involving a black Dodge Charger reported stolen. Local 12 reported that the chase commenced after officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the 36-mile marker, but were led on a pursuit when the driver chose to quickly speed away.
The pursuit was brought to an end when officers executed a PIT maneuver to safely disable the car. The tactical intervention was conducted without causing any injuries, a method that Franklin police have successfully used to stop fleeing vehicles. The operation concluded with both occupants being taken into custody, as noted by the report from Cleveland 19.
According to the Franklin, Ohio Division of Police, the driver, identified as Armone Kinney, is being charged with "Failure to Comply, Felony 3, Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 4," as reported by Cleveland 19, and is currently facing an active arrest warrant for homicide issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. The passenger, Sha'Quan Barker, is facing a charge of "Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 4," along with an active warrant for aggravated robbery. These charges stem not only from the pursuit but also from previous unrelated incidents.
A brief chase that spanned the northern corridor of I-75 came to a rapid conclusion after the Franklin police adeptly managed to immobilize the stolen vehicle, a detail confirmed by WLWT. Both Kinney and Barker are due for arraignment at Warren County court. The continuous investigation by police aims to piece together not just the pursuit but also the suspects’ connection to other criminal activities.
Police later affirmed the stolen status of the vehicle, which was initially identified by the Clayton Police Department in Montgomery County. Footage capturing the incident has been posted to the Franklin Police Department's Facebook page.
