A teen girl was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday night in west Phoenix near 75th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, shortly before 8:30 p.m. She was found in critical condition and transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to AZ Family.
The driver stayed at the scene after the crash. Reports indicate the teen was likely not using a crosswalk when the incident occurred.
Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez of the Phoenix Police provided some insight into the preliminary findings of the investigation, "Preliminary information indicates the teen juvenile was crossing mid-block when she was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Lower Buckeye Road," she told FOX 10 Phoenix. The identity of the girl has not been released, no charges have been filed against the driver, and "Impairment is also believed to be a factor in this collision," though it has not yet been confirmed as the investigation continues.
