
Early in the morning hours, a tense situation unfolded at a Terre Haute bar when police were called to address a potential threat. The Terre Haute Police Department's social media post indicated that at around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to reports of an individual threatening to shoot patrons at The Verve, located at 677 Wabash Ave.
Upon their arrival, police were able swiftly to locate a man matching the suspect's description. This individual, later identified as Domonick McCaskill, a 31-year-old Terre Haute resident, was detained and found to be carrying a handgun. The early investigation revealed McCaskill had been inside the bar armed and making comments that led patrons to fear for their safety.
"Upon arrival, officers quickly located an individual matching the provided description and detained him. He was found to be in possession of a handgun," the police department provided in a statement. The report further clarified the events inside the bar, stating, "Preliminary investigation determined that the individual was inside the bar with the weapon and made comments that caused patrons to fear for their safety."
McCaskill was arrested on charges of Intimidation and Public Intoxication and is scheduled to appear in Vigo County Court tomorrow. The incident at The Verve is under investigation, and authorities said additional information will be released when available. The Terre Haute Police Department reported that their prompt response helped de-escalate the situation.
