
Three individuals were wounded in a shooting at the East Point MARTA station yesterday, stirring concerns among daily commuters. The shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. at the station located near Highway 29 and Main Street. One man received a gunshot while a man and woman were each grazed by a bullet during the incident, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Responders evaluated the victims at the scene; however, details regarding their current health status were not disclosed following the event.
Despite the violent outbreak, MARTA police have indicated to Atlanta News First that this was an isolated incident and that there is no continuing danger to the community. All the victims were taken to Grady Hospital with injuries that were mentioned to be non-life-threatening.
The specifics of what triggered the shooting remain unclear at this time. Investigators have yet to release a description of the assailant, nor have they taken any suspects into custody.
