A Tucson man has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for sexually abusing a minor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed. Cylus Miller Alvarado, 25, was sentenced on January 15 for abusive sexual contact involving a child under the age of 12. He will also be placed on lifetime supervised release following the completion of his prison term.
In a press release, U.S. Attorney Timothy Courchaine said cases involving the sexual abuse of children can have lasting effects on victims, their families, and communities, and noted the office’s intent to use all available resources to identify and prosecute such offenses. Court documents state that the abusive sexual contact occurred on multiple occasions between April 1, 2022, and June 12, 2023, at Alvarado’s residence on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Indian Reservation.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Phoenix, Lake Havasu office, in coordination with the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina J. Reid-Moore of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona in Phoenix.
The case, filed under number CR-24-02020-PHX-SHD and release number 2026-006_Alvarado, is among those pursued by federal and local authorities as part of ongoing efforts to address cases involving the sexual abuse of minors.
