Tragedy struck Rumney, New Hampshire last Friday after a head-on collision left two people dead and one seriously injured, as reported by local authorities. The Rumney Fire Department was dispatched to Route 25 following the crash which occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m., involving a Nissan Rogue and a Toyota Rav 4.
NBC Boston detailed that upon arrival, emergency crews found the two vehicles in the road, the aftermath of what appeared to be a head-on collision. They noted that crews from nearby Plymouth-Fire Rescue and Wentworth Fire Department also responded to the scene, where the driver and passenger of one vehicle were pronounced dead on site, and the driver from the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The identities of the victims have yet to be released.
Route 25 remained closed for approximately five hours to allow for investigation and cleanup efforts. At this point, the cause of the fatal crash remains undetermined as the Rumney Police Department continues its investigation into the harrowing incident.
In a related report by Boston 25 News, it was revealed that, "a preliminary investigation revealed that the Rouge crossed into eastbound traffic and struck the Rav 4." Speed is considered to be a factor in this devastating occurrence.
