Artists, sharpen your pencils and refine your proposals. The Utah Division of Arts & Museums is sounding the horn for creatives with upcoming deadlines for Public Art Opportunities looming. Local and national artists have a chance to make their mark with various projects ranging from exterior installations at Millcreek Commons to habitat boxes in Berkeley's Community Garden Park. With the application window closing soon, it's time to get detailed project information and submit qualifications according to the Utah Division of Arts & Museums.
On the local front, Millcreek City is collaborating with the Millcreek Arts Council to beautify the exterior of Millcreek Commons, with submissions due by January 16. Meanwhile, keeping cycling and design enthusiasts in mind, Park City Municipal Corporation is seeking bike rack designs, and artists have until January 30 to wheel in their best concepts.
Moving beyond Utah, opportunities stretch from Oregon to Rhode Island. A call for sculpture designs is open for Art in Public Places of Bend, Oregon, with a focus on enhancing a roundabout, and artists need to circle the date January 12 on their calendars. Berkeley, known for its commitment to sustainable spaces, invites artists to contribute to the vitality of its community gardens by designing habitat boxes, with the same deadline of January 12.
The call for art extends to the scientific community at Rhode Island College, where creators can apply their vision either inside or outside the Clarke Science Building by January 19. Brookings, South Dakota, is stepping into the mix, with the Brookings Public Arts Commission ready to integrate art into Dakota Nature Park by January 23. Equally, the High Desert Museum is calling on indigenous artists to contribute to their Plateau Exhibition by the same date. The Village of Palmetto Bay in Florida will round out the month with designs for their Coral Reef Old Cutler traffic circle due on January 30.
