Earlier today, the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee released their latest inmate statistics on social media, providing a snapshot of the county's detention center population.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office post, the total number of inmates currently stands at 474. These numbers paint a picture of who is behind bars, with 244 inmates awaiting trial for felony charges, and 42 for misdemeanors.
The details get more granular as the Sheriff's Office's figures reveal that of those incarcerated, 133 are convicted misdemeanors serving their sentences. On the more severe end of the scale, five individuals are serving less than one year for felony convictions, while 16 are in for a stretch of more than one year, and 30 have sentences extending beyond three years. Additionally, four inmates are currently held for parole violations, a reflection of the ongoing cycle of incarceration that some citizens find themselves caught within.
