Drivers in the Phoenix area should expect freeway delays from January 23–26 due to improvement projects by the Arizona Department of Transportation. On Friday and Saturday nights, Interstate 17 will be reduced to one lane overnight between State Route 74 and Anthem Way for lane striping, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Daytime restrictions will also be in place, with northbound I-17 narrowed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and southbound from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time and notes that all work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Arizona Avenue and Lindsay Road at Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be fully closed from 10 p.m. on January 23 until the early hours of January 26 for a road widening project. Drivers can use McQueen, Cooper, or Gilbert roads as alternate routes. The westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Arizona Avenue will also be closed, with Alma School Road suggested as an alternate. The Arizona Department of Transportation provides traffic updates at AZ511.gov, through the az511 app, or by calling 511.
