As the snow begins to lay its claim on the streets of Wyoming, Ohio, the city's public works team is gearing up for a busy weekend. A recent update on the city's Facebook page urges residents to make way for snow plows, with the heavy snowfall expected to begin Saturday afternoon and the clearing efforts to stretch into Monday.

"Your public works team will be working hard to keep Wyoming’s streets cleared from the time the snow starts (anticipating Saturday afternoon) until the roads are cleared," the Wyoming Ohio, post read. In an effort to ensure efficiency and safety, the city has asked residents to park their cars in driveways rather than on the street, which allows the plow operators to clear the curb lane more effectively and prevents the formation of snow windrows alongside parked vehicles. Despite their efforts, the city acknowledges that "this it is inevitable-especially given the anticipated amount of snow coming."

For those without the option of driveway parking, the city advises against parking directly across from another vehicle on the street, as this limits the space necessary for plows to pass through. The public works team is prioritizing the main roads initially before revisiting cul-de-sacs, intersections, and other areas as soon as possible.

Wyoming residents are also cautioned about potential refreezing conditions. "While we expect to have the roads cleared of snow by Monday morning, the cold temperatures overnight Sunday may cause some re-freezing that even our calcium chloride treated salt may not melt," the City of Wyoming, Ohio's statement explained. The subzero stand-off should, however, "resolve itself during the day on Monday" as temperatures rise. In the meantime, the community's cooperation is key to a clear and safe start to the week.
