In a recent show of interdepartmental cooperation, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office led an operation that netted 13 arrests in a single day. The operation, carried out on Saturday, January 10, was a concerted effort by the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) with support from local police departments and a narcotics task force, targeting individuals with outstanding warrants related to a variety of criminal charges. According to the official release by YCSO, charges included drug possession, aggravated assault, fraud, and trafficking stolen property.
YCSO's crackdown pulled together resources from Prescott Police Department, Chino Valley Police Department, and Partners Against Narcotic Trafficking (PANT), among others, to fulfill these warrant arrests. They managed to apprehend individuals on no-bond warrants—meaning they remain in custody without the option of release through bail. Alongside, YCSO Detectives provided crucial intelligence that paved the way for the operation's success, while the YCSO Rescue 1 helicopter supported ground units, leading the hunt for approximately 10 suspects.
Among those arrested was a person wanted on a statewide extradition warrant from Maricopa County for charges including larceny and fraud. Others found themselves in handcuffs over narcotics, with two individuals nabbed for dangerous drug possession. Furthermore, another suspect was arrested for a serious Probation Violation related to aggravated assault charges, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Wrapping up the operation was a high-speed pursuit following a failed attempt to stop a driver who slammed into a curb during an unrelated traffic stop. The driver, initially refusing to exit the vehicle, led deputies on a chase. Planned or otherwise, YCSO and SCU caught up with the fleeing vehicle. The outcome? The driver was arrested and charged with Aggravated DUI, among other offenses.
With these arrests, YCSO has reiterated its commitment to community safety and expressed its gratitude for the assistance it received from local law enforcement agencies that contributed to the operation, ensuring its effective execution and the community's well-being.
