LaPlace residents were caught in gunfire last Thursday evening on Southdown Road. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page said a 15-year-old has been arrested, and two others remain at large. The shooting caused damage to several vehicles and at least one home.

Deputies responded shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Investigators said the suspects targeted a rival group and fled the scene. One suspect was located in a nearby backyard using a drone, and three firearms believed to be used in the incident were recovered from his backpack.

The juvenile faces charges including illegal possession of a handgun by a minor and aggravated criminal damage to property and is being held in a juvenile detention center. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Denis James, the TIPS line, or submit tips through the Sheriff’s Office website.

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement works to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.
