The 34th annual Florida Renaissance Festival is underway in Deerfield Beach and runs every weekend until March 29. The festival recreates a 16th-century village with mock combat tournaments, theater and puppetry, and musical performances, WSVN reports.
The Adriene Empire encampment serves as an educational area showcasing medieval life from around 800 AD to the 1600s. Artisans demonstrate traditional crafts such as pottery, armor, clothing, and jewelry, Coconut Creek Talk reports.
Festival activities include combat events where participants wear medieval-style armor and duel with dulled swords, jousting on horseback, axe throwing, archery, and sword fighting. Attendees can explore about 100 vendors selling clothing, jewelry, and other goods, as well as food outlets offering period-style fare, including turkey legs.
