Smallcakes’ Ahwatukee shop is serving its final swirl of frosting this weekend, wrapping up what neighbors have known as an eight-year run in the strip center at Ray Road and Ranch Circle. The closure, announced on the store’s social channels, invited regulars and curious first-timers alike to swing by before the cupcakery’s planned last day on Saturday, Feb. 28. Once the lights go out, the move will leave yet another empty space in the plaza where the shop has been a familiar sugar stop.
Announcement and last day
In its farewell post, the shop told customers, “We invite everyone to stop by and enjoy one more cupcake with us before we close on Saturday, 2/28/26,” adding that staff hoped to thank supporters in person. The message did not explain why the shop is shutting down, as noted by Mouth By Southwest.
Location and ownership
The Ahwatukee location is listed at 4302 E. Ray Rd., Suite 102 on Smallcakes, which confirms the Phoenix shop in its directory. According to the store’s own website, owners Christian and Stephanie King took over the local bakery on Jan. 20, 2020, and the site also lists the shop’s phone number and regular hours.
