What began as a Saturday morning well‑being check at 55 Skyline Drive in Braintree quickly turned into a tense barricade situation, according to police. After neighbors raised concerns, officers arrived to check on the occupants, and a man shut himself inside the residence. Police say they ultimately forced their way in, an adult woman got out safely, and the male suspect was taken into custody at about 10:15 a.m.

In a post on Facebook, the Braintree Police Department said officers initially received no response at the door and secured a perimeter. Citing prior history and concerns for the occupant’s welfare, they decided to forcibly enter the home. The department identified the man as 35‑year‑old Lamont Sands of Holbrook and said he was arrested on four outstanding warrants tied to violations of a 209A restraining order. Braintree police thanked residents for their patience during the incident and credited the Weymouth Police Department, Holbrook Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police K‑9 unit for their help at the scene.

What a 209A order means

A "209A" order, formally known as the Massachusetts Abuse Prevention Act, is a civil restraining order meant to protect family or household members from abuse, threats or coercion. It can require the defendant to have no contact with the protected person. Mass.gov notes that although these orders are civil, violating certain terms can bring criminal charges and other penalties. Police departments can also request emergency orders when courts are closed.

Skyline Drive has seen previous police activity

Skyline Drive and the nearby apartment complex have been on law enforcement’s radar in recent years, with prior shootings and investigations putting neighbors on edge whenever cruisers roll in. Local reporting documented a 2024 shooting near Skyline Drive that sent one person to the hospital, an incident residents say still weighs on the neighborhood. Boston 25 News covered that earlier case.

The Braintree Police Department said this latest incident ended without further escalation and again thanked neighbors for their cooperation. The department’s full statement can be found on the Braintree Police Department page on Facebook.
