Golfers at Mission Bay could soon trade basic snack-bar fare for a full sit-down meal, as Harland Brewing moves to open a full-service restaurant and taproom at the city-run Mission Bay Golf Course. The brewery is set to take over an approximately 2,000-square-foot, already built-out space at 2702 N Mission Bay Drive, with plans for a golf-course-facing patio and surface parking accessed from North Mission Bay Drive. The concept is slated to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks every day, and if permits and licensing go through, Harland would hold exclusive rights to serve on-site users, adding a family-friendly dining option to the course.
According to What Now, the project appears to be advancing following a recent liquor-license application. In a press release shared with the outlet, Harland CEO Jeff Hansson said the surrounding community "is full of families looking for great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a place where kids feel just as comfortable as adults."
Inside The Space
The property's listing for 2702 N Mission Bay Drive describes a fully built-out, roughly 2,000-square-foot restaurant that already features a ventless hood system, a walk-in cooler, counter infrastructure and ADA-compliant restrooms, which suggests much of the heavy lifting has been handled. The broker materials also call out a golf-facing patio suited for casual dining or live music, along with surface parking to handle both guests and deliveries.
City Course, City Rules
Mission Bay Golf Course is operated by the City of San Diego, and the Parks & Recreation website lists the course address and contact information. The department's page recently posted an operational update noting that night golf is currently suspended while front-nine lighting improvements are underway, a detail that could shape how any new on-site restaurant approaches evening service once it opens.
What To Expect
Harland's recent move into full-service restaurants offers a clear preview of what Mission Bay diners are likely to see: shareable starters, composed mains like braised short rib and half-roasted chicken, and kid-friendly picks, all backed by a strong beer lineup. Hoodline's profile of Harland's 4S Ranch location shows the company leaning into hospitality, and What Now notes the Mission Bay outpost is expected to pour Harland beers on tap along with cocktail-inspired seltzers, cider and wine.
Earlier coverage and the leasing materials indicate that Harland at Mission Bay Golf is already under construction and is expected to debut in 2026, as reported by SanDiegoVille. As the project navigates city review and ABC licensing, company statements and permit records will remain the clearest indicators of how quickly the taproom and restaurant will be ready for tee time.
