A bike-theft incident near the TD Garden led to the arrest of a suspect last night. The Boston Police Department reported that officers working a paid detail were notified by a victim at approximately 8:48 PM, whose rented Boston Blue Bike had been stolen. The victim managed to track the bike's location and pass on both the location and a description of the suspect to the police. According to the official report, the victim tracked the bike in real time and was able to guide the officers to its location.
Coming upon a male individual walking with the bike on Haverhill Street, officers intervened. Once stopped, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Hunter Guest of Franklin, denied the theft but failed to provide information on where the bike had been rented from. The bike, confirmed by its number, was returned to the rightful renter.
Following the confrontation, Guest was placed under arrest on the charge of Receiving Stolen Property over $1,200 and is slated to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court. The situation took a turn when officers, after a check, found that Guest had five active warrants out of Milford District Court on various charges. Among these charges were Assault and Battery on a Public Employee, Trespass, Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise, Unarmed Robbery, and Assault and Battery.
