Deerfield Beach has recently been the epicenter of an audacious fraud case involving over $1.2 million stolen from a local business by none other than a Broward County woman named Keshon Litesha Rivers. The 32-year-old was arrested yesterday and is facing numerous charges including organized scheme to defraud and grand theft, as reported by NBC Miami in a statement obtained by the outlet.
Rivers, having a professional rapport with the business she defrauded, siphoned funds from Event Décor Direct, where her company, Lock and Key Designs, was purportedly serving. She rented mansions that made grandiose expenses, dropping over $43,000 on property rentals in Miami Beach and Los Angeles, and not to mention the excess of $55,000 for a private jet flight, as detailed by Boca News Now in a report.
Following a meticulous investigation, the lavish expenditures did not cease to astonish; authorities uncovered that Rivers lavishly adorned herself with $85,000 worth of gold and diamond jewelry. She was also crafty enough to invent a nonexistent accomplice in an attempt to deflect the blame for the dubious credit card transactions, a point of interest highlighted by Boca News Now.
Having been previously condemned to probation for similar fraud charges until 2030, Rivers' latest rendezvous with the law finds her in a precarious legal position. Arrested by the Deerfield Beach agency, the list of charges amassed by Rivers is substantial and includes money laundering transactions over $100,000, even creating fictitious personal ID information, as per the Broward County mugshot post.
Rivers is now being held at the Main Jail without the possibility of bail. The magnitude of her alleged financial crimes suggests a profound misappropriation of trust and resources, leaving the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Detective Christopher Bradley urging anyone with more information to step forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
