The Shrewsbury Police Department reported a busy week from Monday through Sunday, handling a range of incidents including serious traffic violations and multiple cases of shoplifting. Last Monday, a driver was pepper-sprayed after honking at a vehicle that nearly collided with his car on the 7400 block of Watson Road; authorities have identified the suspect and are actively pursuing them. Last Wednesday, Shrewsbury officers assisted a St. Louis County officer with a resisting suspect, resulting in the officer sustaining minor injuries.
That same day, an officer stopped a driver operating a vehicle with no license plates, no insurance, and no valid driver’s license—a combination sometimes called a traffic trifecta. The driver was arrested, and the vehicle was impounded. Additionally, a known shoplifter was caught last Wednesday with suspected fentanyl, resulting in two felony charges.
Traffic enforcement continued on February 5 when an officer stopped a vehicle displaying plates registered to another car and found the driver had no insurance and a revoked license, completing another “traffic trifecta.” Separately, last Saturday, a known shoplifter, nicknamed “Sticky Fingers,” was apprehended and arrested after attempting to evade officers, accoring to the City of Shrewsbury.
Beyond the highlighted events, Shrewsbury officers handled six shoplifting cases last week involving items such as clothing, intimate apparel, adhesives, alcohol, household goods, and scented products, with all suspects apprehended. Officers also investigated unauthorized charges at a Panda Express in Maryland, which were linked to a Shrewsbury resident’s debit card, resulting in a felony investigation.
In addition to other incidents, Shrewsbury officers responded to four auto accidents, four reports of suspicious activity, and eight theft complaints. They also assisted the Fire Department on 25 calls and conducted 149 traffic stops throughout the week. The Shrewsbury Police Department continues to prioritize public safety and law enforcement in the community.
