The Cambridge Police Department has reported the arrest of two individuals, Patrick McGowan and Christian Fauntleroy, following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of firearms and ammunition. According to the department's social media post, officers stopped a vehicle on Thursday near Central Square for a traffic infraction and, during a routine inventory before towing due to safety violations, uncovered two handguns and multiple rounds of ammunition, both accessible to McGowan and Fauntleroy.
Neither suspect held a License to Carry or a Firearm Identification Card, rendering their possession of the firearms and ammunition unlawful. One of the firearms had been reported stolen out of state, while the second bore no serial number, which complicates the traceability of the weapon and its origins. The other did not have a serial number, potentially indicating an attempt to bypass the regulatory oversight that accompanies legal weapon ownership.
Both have been arraigned in Cambridge District Court, as per the procedure for such charges. McGowan, 28, from Cambridge, and Fauntleroy, 29, from Dorchester, will have their cases prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
